Consign with us!

Frequently Asked Questions:

HOW DOES CONSIGNMENT WORK?
When you bring in items, staff will appraise them and decide on a price with you. After 30 days we may mark down the price to increase the odds of selling, according to our consignee contract. When the item sells, you will receive a 55% of the sale price, minus a $1 administration fee.

HOW DO YOU PRICE ITEMS?
We typically begin pricing at half the original retail value, but may have to lower this based on age, condition, and demand for the item.

WHEN AND HOW DO I GET PAID?
When your item sells you will receive 55% of its selling price minus $1 administration fee. We provide three types of payment: cash (under $50), cheque (Over $50), or store credit (this option will provide a 5% discount to your store purchase!).

HOW DO I FIND OUT IF MY ITEMS HAVE SOLD?
We won't let you know once something has sold, but you are welcome to call or visit anytime to check on your account balance and which items have sold. All we need is an account number or phone number to check.

WHAT HAPPENS TO MY ITEMS IF THEY DON'T SELL?
Consigned items that stay in the shop longer than 30 days are subject to a price reduction. After 90 days, they are subject to donation. To prevent any unwanted price reductions or donations we ask consignors to keep their copy of their contract and check in with us at the 30- and 90- day mark.

WHAT IF I CHANGE MY MIND?
If you consign an item we ask it be left for a minimum of 30 days as per agreement. This gives us a chance to sell the item (it costs us time and money to enter, tag, and merchandise each item!). After 30 days you can pick up your item anytime!

WHAT IF I AM MOVING AWAY?
If you are leaving town or will be unable to claim unsold goods or payment, talk to use about your situation and gear. We can usually find a solution!

ARE THERE ITEMS YOU DON'T ACCEPT?
Yes, certain items are not resalable due to safety liability. This includes avalanche beacons, climbing gear with soft components without an expiry date, climbing rope, helmets over 10 years old, and non-indemnified downhill ski bindings. Other items, like skis and snowboards without bindings, or gear designs that have fallen out of favour or do not sell well and may not be accepted. Furthermore, we don't accept most team sport gear: football, baseball, hockey (except skates) soccer, etc.

HOW DO I KNOW IF MY SKIS ARE TOO OLD?
For downhill skis, make sure the bindings are still indemnified (meaning the manufacturer still provides liability coverage to ski shops servicing that binding model). This can be done by looking up the binding manufacturer's indemnification list. Generally, if your skis are over 10 years old, they might be too old. If you can determine this before bringing them in, it will greatly speed up the consignment process. Also, very narrow-waisted, parabolic skis are no longer in vogue and we may decline taking them. For cross-country skis, we will still accept skis mounted with older binding systems (NNN/Prolink is now the current standard).

DO YOU ACCEPT GEAR FOR TEAM SPORTS?
No, we only accept gear and clothing for outdoor adventure sports and activities. Examples of equipment and attire we DO NOT accept include items for:Soccer, hockey (except skates) golf, tennis, football, equestrian sports, hunting and fishing.
